Kakri (Kakdi) seeds popularly known as kakri is valued for tender fruits which are eaten raw along with salt and pepper. Due to its cooling effect this is very popular during summer months in most part of the country. If it is taken without salt, it is not easily digested. Similarly, drinking of water immediately after eating fruits cause indigestion.
It is summer season crop. It is mainly grown in the month of February to March.

Long melon, also known as a snake melon. Vigorous, full vines were quick to fill an entire trellis and start producing. Armenian produces enormous yields of light green, heavily ribbed fruits with thin, tender skins, up to 36 in. long. Fruits remain mild and tasty, and the seeds quite tender, even when they grow very large.

This variety is our favorite for cucumber salad, and other recipes where you need a denser, less watery cucumber. Like other cucumber plants, Armenian Cucumber can be grown on the ground or on a trellis. When grown on the ground, the fruits tend to turn and twist into unique shapes. When grown on a trellis, the fruits are straighter. Top eating quality when harvested at 12-18″ long.

Armenian cucumber is actually the same species as cantaloupe and other melons, and when very ripe the fruit take on an orange hue and have a light melon aroma. Best eaten when 12” or shorter, but can grow 2’ or longer. May be trellised for straighter fruit, but the very long vines will grow without complaint on the ground as well.
